John De Pape, Vice-President, Risk Advisory
John De Pape is an experienced risk management specialist working extensively in commodity and currency markets for over 25 years. Starting with a trading career with Cargill, he worked extensively in the agri-food industry before focusing on currency over the last 6 years. Having developed an excellent reputation for his work ethic, clarity of thought and attention to detail, Mr. De Pape is a highly sought-after risk management consultant to both industry and government agencies. For the Canadian Securities Institute, Mr. De Pape developed the training material for commodity and foreign exchange trading certification.
Featured in his career include risk assessment and program development projects for The World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), Inter-American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture (IICA), Sydney Futures Exchange, and Winnipeg Commodity Exchange. Also, Mr. De Pape has been selected to work on various government (risk management) policy issues for The Federal Government of Canada, the Alberta Government and the Saskatchewan Government. He has worked as a risk management consultant with many of the “who’s who” of the North American food sector, most notably Maple Leaf Foods, George Weston Ltd., Molson Coors Canada, Novacap (private equity firm), ConAgra Foods Inc., InterBrau GmbH (Germany), the Canadian Wheat Board, Paterson Global Foods, and Fomento Económico Mexicano, S.A.B. de C.V. (FEMSA).
Mr. De Pape s a member of the Treasury Management Association of Canada, the Canadian Association of Importers and Exporters, and an affiliate member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals. As Vice President Risk Advisory at Castle Currency, he works with clients to develop a more thorough understanding of their currency exposures and risks through the development of risk management systems, hedge programs and currency management plans, processes and procedures to better manage their risk. He works closely with clients to ensure effective execution of strategies developed by Castle Currency to ensure the best possible results.
